Heavens to Betsy Illustrations offer a different approach to a more traditional portrait.
They are all about telling a story and capturing a moment in time, with the most everyday subjects often being the ones to treasure the most.
Each illustration is drawn by hand in pencil, using your chosen photograph as reference.
Once the drawing is complete, the illustration is worked on digitally to create the Heavens to Betsy signature style.
If you have opted for colour, this is created with a carefully selected array of hand painted backgrounds and textures, that are customised specifically to your order.
Every detail and colour is applied separately and shaded by hand, which gives the unique and hand made quality to each artwork.
All final artworks are archival giclée, fine art prints, signed by hand.
Heavens to Betsy artist and founder, Nancy Ellis, attained a BAHons degree Camberwell college of Arts, London and has been working exclusively in the field of animation and illustration since ‘99.
With years of experience as animation director with a London based tv production company, her attention to detail and eye for colour ensures artwork of a high professional quality.
Drawing children and the art of storytelling have always been a huge passion, and through this, Nancy developed a style for illustrating the children in her family, at first just for pleasure. It was through sharing this work with friends, that the concept for Heavens to Betsy was born.
